I'll give you a couple of pointers.
For legitimacy... nothing beats knowledge. If you know what you're talking about it goes a very long way. A company website helps, if it has a link to the better business bureau for the company you're with that's even better. If anyone asks, you can toss out your company website. Also, a voip phone line is cheap ($15 month) and you can typically change what comes up on caller ID so you can have it match your company name.
It's been a long time since I looked a websites for loan officers, but alamode and myers seem to stand out in my mind for some reason.
For taxes, just track your expenses. You can write off portions of your internet bill, cell phone bill, and a few other things... but you should talk with a cpa to be sure.
