Hi everyone,
I have been a loan officer for 4 month. I would like to hear from other loan officers on this topic... The brokerage company that I work for I have been allowed to do the 1003, use point software, order appraisal, order title, but that's it...My broker takes over from there, He does not even like to tell me which bank the loan is going thru until loan is done and approved. He does not even tell me who we are processing thru( we donot process in house). Also I have no clue how to do anything else or how to proceed any furthur. I donot know how other loan officers are trained in other offices or how far they are allowed to take their laons before processor takes over. I would like to learn the whole process and have more control of my leads since I do bring my own leads. can anybody tell me their beginning experiences and their stories. thank you....waiting to hear from fellow officers |

Hi Maswa!
When I first started in this business, I had a "team leader" at the company that I worked for, but you had to fight for their attention because they were busy. We had in house processing, so I guess we were one up on you from that stand point. I was given more control, but not that I should have been...they just didn't really provide much in the form of guidance. Do you have your license yet? If so, then what your broker is doing is not only right, but it's his responsibility to oversee the process completely. If you do, then you should probably have a bit more control or at least get answers to your questions until you get a bit more experience under your belt. Do you know how to read rate sheets, have your license, know what all of your disclosures mean, calculate DTI ratios, & stuff? Best of luck Troy

When I was a mortgage broker, I train my Loan officers so well that after a few deals they ran off and started their own companies. That is the nature of the business and will always be. You need to start looking around for a shop that will let you "run" with the file. this way you will learn a lot more |
