Default Call Center in India Generating Mortgage Calls

Hey,

I am curious to know how many loan officers would have a problem using a lead that was generated from a call center in India?

The leads have about a 30% Closing Ratio, and they are never re-sold or sold to more than 1 company. I have been in the mortgage leads business for 4 years and for the first time I have a person tell me that because the call center was located in India he wouldn't want to deal with them.

If you felt that way would it be wrong to say you're alittle racist? I am curious to know.

Thanks,

Eric,

This is kind of an interesting subject. A few years ago I worked for a company that refused to use a call center in india simply because they were pro-USA. They didn't want to take jobs away from americans...and I respect that.

I'm not a huge fan of call centers because I'm of the opinion that they generally just crank out crap leads. Pretty much anything they can slap on a mini 1003. My experience with call center leads is that I might as well have been making a cold call when I was attempting to follow up. Of course, I have a relatively narrow range of experience with call centers...but that's my opinion.

As far as racist....possibly, but not necessarily. I would say that a lot of people have a general concern with an indian call center as to their proficiency/fluency with english. I despise having to call customer support for anything when it has been outsourced to india. I can recall a few instances of asking to be transfered to someone else because I couldn't understand them. It doesn't happen often, but I've never had a call from india that sounded like he was "Joe from the midwest."

Part of the "sales" job via telemarketing is mirroring and matching. If you can't get past your own accent, then odds are you are going to have a tough time selling someone...and I'll probably have a more difficult time following up.

So....how do you calculate your 30% closing ratio? What was the study done? How many leads did it include? What kind of QC measures are in place? etc.

Mind you I have nothing personal against indians.... Just business

In 2005 we were approached by two different start-ups overthere to train their personnel on the cheap; they went elsewhere. Both were trying to figur eout how they could earn the POINTS themselves, by maybeing a processor or something since they were'nt licensed.
